Conclusion

We have emphasized some of the long-lived transient features of the evolution of the energy spectrum in the $\alpha$-FPU model. Weak turbulence theory has been successful in predicting scaling exponents concerning the achievement of partial equipartition. In the future, we will endeavor to explain other dynamical aspects, such as the formation of the energy hump at intermediate wavenumbers and subsequent inverse cascade, in similar quantitative terms.
